Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption in Indian Land, South Carolina

SERENA

Domestic Short Hair
🇺🇸
Indian Land, South Carolina
April 14th
female, medium, young

DESCRIPTION

In February, the Lancaster Animal Shelter called me with three kittens, three weeks old, who were rescued from a hoarding situation. Dogs, cats, and reptiles were everywhere. The Shelter said, “We were amazed the kittens were alive.” The next day the mother cat and her two other kittens were found as well in the home. We were able to reunite the family, mom and all her kittens!

Through the whole intake process, with much poking, prodding, picking, and brushing, the mom cat earned her name - Serena. The kittens recovered quickly, and after they were weaned they were adopted by wonderful people. Serena had a medical issue requiring attention but is now completely well and ready for her forever place in the world.

The vet says Serena is less than a year old. It has been fun to watch her navigate her new life. We get to see who she was meant to be - cute, quirky, and intelligent. She is cute in that she is sleek and small-framed and will likely remain very small. She is quirky in that she has expressive mannerisms, a variety of vocalizations, and confidence well beyond her diminutive size. And she is intelligent in that she appreciates that humans provide food, affection, and protection.

Although our strong preference is to adopt cats in pairs or to a home with a cat or cat-friendly dog, Serena is one of the few rescues we believe will do well adopted by herself. She loves human attention and will make a great companion for someone looking for a low-maintenance friend.

Our nominal adoption fee includes FIV/FeLV testing, deworming, vaccinations, and spay/neuter. Serena was recently spayed and is FIV/FeLV negative.

To visit with Serena, drop me a note at cherylsferalsandfosters@gmail.com or PM me. If you are considering adopting her, please fill out and submit the adoption contract found in The Adoption Process link on my website (cherylsferalsandfosters.com). In the meantime, you can follow their journey on Facebook: Cheryl’s Ferals and Fosters Chat Group. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3).
