Blackberry - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Greensboro, North Carolina

Blackberry is a strong, muscular boy with a thick black coat and a few white hairs under his neck and in his armpits. It hasn't yet been decided whether his coat will settle into medium length. He is one of three kittens born to Spunky, who is also listed with Triad Independent Cat Rescue. Their exact birthdate is not known because they were born outside. Their existence wasn't confirmed until their mother was spayed on 5/29/2026 and was noted to be nursing. Spunky was released to care for her kittens, which she did until a rainstorm drove them from the drain pipe where they had been living to the screened porch of their foster parents' neighbor in July. There they were captured and came into care. At the time of capture, the kittens were estimated to be 3-4 weeks old. Their eyes were open and they were able to eat solid food, although they continued to nurse.

Blackberry is the heaviest of the litter, healthy, playful, and beginning to accept human touch. He plays with his siblings and with one of the adult cats in the foster home. He enjoys laser toys, wands, springs, and tiny stuffed mice, and like his mom, he is addicted to catnip and food. He has seemed a little shyer than the other kittens but continues to come out of his shell with consistent handling. He is quiet and calm. Although we always prefer that kittens are placed in pairs, Blackberry is independent enough to be fine as an only cat.

Blackberry will be neutered and fully vaccinated prior to adoption. He has been well cared for by his mother, foster parents, and a team of adults who are helping to socialize him. We hope his future home will continue to give him the attention and experiences he is currently enjoying.

His adoption fee includes neuter surgery, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations, testing for FIV & FeLV, and any medications needed while in his foster home such as flea & tick prevention, dewormer, antibiotics, etc.
