Rhino
Male
Approx 12 weeks old
DSH Grey Tabby
This handsome little guy is Rhino, a 12-week-old male kitten who is looking for a very special forever home.
Rhino is playful, sweet, curious and full of kitten personality. He has already been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated for RVRCP and Felv, and he is ready to find someone who will love him for exactly who he is.
There is one important thing his future family needs to know. Rhino has tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (Felv). This is something his mother was most likely infected with and passed down to him.
We know the work "leukemia" can sound scary, but we don't want that word to keep this sweet boy from finding his people.
Felv is a virus that affects a cat's immune system. It is not contagious to dogs or humans, and it is primarily spread between cats through bite wounds. It can be spread, rarely, through close contact as well.
Because Rhino is Felv-positive, he will need a home that understands his needs. Ideally, he should live as an only cat. However, he can live with other cats who are vaccinated routinely for feline leukemia or other cats who are also infected. He is currently in a foster home interacting with the foster's own cats who are vaccinated. He is used to dogs, cats, and small children.
His family should also be committed to regular veterinary care and keeping him healthy. Rhino has been very healthy so far and he can live a long, healthy life if cared for properly. He has never been sick or has had any other health concerns. He has grown on target and is in great condition.
FeLV does not define Rhino. He is still a 12-week-old kitten who wants to play, chase toys (especially Nerf bullets), give head butts, curl up for naps, and be loved.
He deserves a chance at a forever home just as much as any other kitten.
If you are looking for a special little guy to add to your family, and are willing to give Rhino the love and care he deserves, please consider opening your heart and your home to him.
