Smudge
CMCR #3864
Male
DSH - Black
DOB: /22/2018
Smudge is a big, gentle lover boy with beautiful yellow eyes and a soft, comforting presence. Though he is a big boy, he moves quietly and gracefully. You’ll hardly know he’s there until he’s curled up nearby, often on the rug by the sliding glass door or lounging on or close to his favorite person.
Mornings bring an exuberant greeting, breakfast is a big draw, then window watching. Afternoons Smudge tucks himself away, often under the couch. In the evenings, Smudge loves to curl up in your lap or stretch out across your legs in a recliner, happily purring the night away. He gives sweet nuzzles, gentle affection, and thrives on these quiet, cozy moments with his person.
Smudge prefers a calm lifestyle and isn’t much for climbing or high-energy play. He enjoys peaceful surroundings where he can relax and feel secure. While he still startles at sudden noises and can get anxious (even something like shoes tromping in the house can worry him), he is making wonderful progress and is becoming more relaxed and comfortable every day. If displeased, he will mouth your hand, but never bites. It’s a gentle and mannerly bit of communication.
He would be most happy in a quiet, patient home; ideally with just one person who understands that he may need time and space to adjust. Smudge hides from strangers, but he’s improving and will often come out shortly after they leave. Having a safe, cozy spot to retreat to when he feels unsure will always be important for him.
Smudge has a delicate tummy, but has a sensitive stomach diet that works well for him. After losing his long time human companion, Smudge is learning to feel at home again and is ready to bond deeply with someone special. With patience, love, and a peaceful environment, this sweet boy will reward you with endless affection and companionship.
