Meet Pinball, a petite, goofy, calico girlie with the kind of striking blonde eyelashes most people pay good money for.

Pinball got her name honestly. When she first arrived in foster care, she was so nervous that she bounced around the room like she'd been launched from a flipper in an arcade, and the name just stuck. She's since substantially calmed down, though the vibe of small, fast, and sudden bursts of energy still applies.

She came a long way to get there. Pinball started life in an outdoor colony where the only interaction with people was sneaking up for whatever food had been left out, and she held her own through some tough conditions that not all her littermates survived. In the end, her resolve crumbled in the face of a hot rotisserie chicken, because everyone has a price, and hers turned out to be about $9.99 at Giant Eagle.

These days Pinball is a different cat. She's still shy when she first meets someone, but give her some time to build trust, and her silly side will come out. She loves climbing her scratching post and launching herself off it to ambush a toy, zooming laps around the room after nothing in particular, and pouncing on any suspicious lump under the blankets, which is your foot or leg (you are now prey). Pinball clearly thinks that she is a large, dangerous animal, even though she weighs in at a whopping 7 pounds. She's a big fan of wand toys, springs, bird watching from the window, and passing out afterward on a soft blanket or the top perch of her cat tree. Her beautiful calico coat is a striking feature that grabs everyone's attention.

Right now, she is receptive to affection while working through a Churu, which honestly is a reasonable way to build trust with anyone. Pinball is ready for adoption, though she's not quite finished becoming her most confident self yet, and that's where the right adopter comes in. She does best with people who are patient, savvy, and willing to let her set the pace rather than rushing her. Starting her off in one small room and letting her come around to her new home and her new people gradually will go a long way. She would do best as the only cat in a calm household without a dog or young children. Older kids who understand how to respect her space would be just fine. She's not a fan of the carrier, but we aren't sure anyone has ever willingly enjoyed that experience, cat or otherwise.
