DESCRIPTION

ROFL is a funny (funny-haha, also probably funny-strange) senior rescue kitty who's decided not to act particularly gracious/grateful about being rescued from a dumpster (when she was a kitten - so that was so yesterday). If after reading this entire description of her, you'd like to consider a trial adoption, please text Emily at (585) 750-3994 or (845) 514-8480 to arrange (if you'd like one) a FaceTime meeting. This is a courtesy post on Emily's behalf - please direct all inquiries her way (thanks!). All information provided here comes from her.

There's not a big fanbase for kitties like ROFL (jerks who are affectionate enough, often enough, to make you want to find them good homes), but people do exist who like affectionate-but-"feisty" kitties who can make them laugh (and maybe provide social media content, though I'd never of course recommend adopting anyone only for that reason). If you willingly adopt a cat like this, it's probbably because there's one in your past - your cat who died was like that and you loved her, or you've sat for or hung out with a cat who's like that and you get a kick out of her/him and are looking for one of your own. You might just feel bad for her, poor twisted kitty, and want to do an act of charity (if so, keep her from your other cats and dogs, because...she's a jerk).

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, please let me say some things you'll like about her! She's very mentally engaged with you - she loves when you talk to her. She loves watching you, not breaking eye contact with you as she chirps conversation at you. She likes to look at you as she kneads and purrs, sending the message to you that "You're making me happy!" She purrs without being touched - in fact, it's when you're touching her that her Jerkiness is likely to come out (if you pet her for what she regards as too long, she gets overstimulated - yes, it's a thing, overstimulation-by-petting, as some YouTube videos will assure you). She will definitely hang with you, following you from room to room; she wants your attention and wants to know what you are doing. Right now, she isn't getting any of this from any person, and she has not in years. She's been staying with a blackout-drunk who is afraid of her and doesn't connect with cats even when they're gentle and cuddly.

Is ROFL cuddly? I wouldn't say so - not *snuggly*. She likes to rub all over your legs, do figure eights around you, make you pet her by petting you, rubbing all over your hand. As you can see in the video, she enjoys it very much, but when she's had enough she'll bite you. So her adopter can't be a physical coward like me. Some people can laugh off when their kitty bites them! A real cat wiz, or just somebody who could spend time with her, which is just what she hasn't got, could very probably train her not to express her overstimulation that way, by gently redirecting her energy or using a click-training device.

And, though she was born in 2016, she still has so much playful energy. When she wants to play she'll let you know it! She gets the "big sillies" and starts throwing toys around you and playing with them. She's a great one for playing with water - she'll come running across the room chirping to see what something is, getting especially excited if it's water coming from a tap. She's obsessed with it; she loves to watch it come out of the tap, licking it, batting at it, and biting it. She has a bird-like mew and she chirps as she looks out the window.

If you watch TV, she will stand in front of you, blocking the screen and watching what you are watching. She gets into it. She isn't a lapcat, and there are some people who might like that, not wanting an all-over-you kitty in their faces. If you sit on the sofa, she is most likely to sit on the armrest or the headrest - with you but not on you. If you like your personal space, but do appreciate cats (and catitude), she's a great match for you!
