Athena: Shy Window-Watcher Seeking a Patient Heart—and a Home with Her Sister
Hi, I'm Athena! I'm a petite black cat, approximately 1.5 years old, who was rescued from an outdoor cat colony with my sister, Artemis. Since being rescued, we've lived in foster homes where we have been slowly learning that humans can be gentle, homes can be safe, and wet food is one of civilizations greatest achievements.
Artemis and I are deeply bonded. You will almost always find us beside each other, sometimes even walking with our tails intertwined. I'm a bit more nervous than my sister, and Artemis often positions herself in front of me to help me feel protected. She is my security detail as well as my best friend, so we must be adopted together.
I'm still learning to fully trust people. I'm not ready for frequent petting or lap duty yet, and I may retreat to a hideout when life feels overwhelming. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy company, though! I simply prefer relationships that develop slowly and respectfully. I'm the queen of slow blinks, which is my way of telling you that I enjoy your presence, and a good sign that our friendship is progressing.
I'm curious and intelligent - and a very talented climber! One of my favorite activities is finding a high perch near a window to watch birds and other backyard visitors. Think of me as a soft-footed surveillance specialist. I happily accept delicious wet food as payment for this work.
Artemis and I are healthy, spayed, vaccinated, and have excellent litter-box habits. Our ideal adopter will be patient, cat-savvy, and willing to continue helping us build confidence without forcing interaction. We need a calm home without dogs or young children, although we may be comfortable with another gentle cat.
We won't arrive expecting to run the household or sleep on your pillow. Our affection will begin more quietly: sharing a room, watching you from a perch, staying visible a little longer, and offering slow blinks from across the room. With time and kindness, our foster firmly believes we can become loving members of a very lucky family.
If you believe that trust is worth earning, please ask about us. Artemis will bring the courage, I'll bring the slow blinks, and together we'll bring twice the quiet sweetness.
Personality traits: Curious, gentle, independent, loyal, quiet, smart, cautious, sensitive, climber, window lover, bird watcher, wet-food enthusiast, slow-blink champion
