Hi, I'm Pappy and my world was flipped upside down when my owner was deported. Can you show me love once again?
My story starts out with being in a loving, warm home with my beloved owner. He absolutely cherished us. Until one day, he was deported. Overnight my best friend was gone. Soon after I made my way to ARNO and it was all so scary. The nosies, the weird smells, I just wanted to be back with my dad. I would barely eat even though the humans there did all they could to help me. I soon went into a foster home as part of my journey to fixing my heartbreak.
In foster, it takes a bit of time to warm up in a new environment. After all I went through, can you blame me? I do better having comforting items to ease me back into home life: cozy hiding spots, windows to gaze out of, and cardboard scratchers to keep my nails looking trim.
But the way to win me over? Temptations treats. My anxieties slowly slip away when I hear the crinkle and shake of the bag and I eagerly eat any and all treats you toss at me. I also enjoy pate wet food over all the other kinds, so no need to waste your money on fancy foods with big ol' chunks of meat, haha.
My foster home also has resident cats that are confident and tolerate of newcomers. They provided a much welcomed level of reassurance that my new space is OK and provided help in feeling comfortable. It would be great if my future home also had other felines to show me the ropes of the home I end up in.
My future home will need to be one that understands it will take some time for me to understand I am once again in a place that is full of safety, warmth, and love. Tasty snacks will certainly play a starring role in my path of a second chance and ultimately I'll need a place that will just give me patience and kindness until I can start repaying it back to you. I have been waiting for a home since 3/31/2025, making me the shelter's longest waiting resident. Could you be the hero I need?
