To the unassuming eye, Duke seems like a day to day cat, with normal behavior and typical kitty needs. When you meet him he may act like an ordinary cat, but after a while, you'll come to the realization that Duke has quite the exuberant personality, one that is larger than life.
Duke is a silly, energetic, and chubby cat that would thrive best in a relaxed and welcoming home that accepts him for all his playful mischief. He is the type of cat that insists on following you into every single room that you walk into. If you try to stop him, he voices his concerns loudly with his boundless and pitiful cries until you let him in the room. He feels obliged to wander aimlessly around the kitchen counter tops as you scramble eggs, and is the type of cat to sit on the toilet to guard you during your shower by swatting at you through the shower curtains. Duke also likes to contribute to the household by walking over your computer when you're trying to get work done, and by jumping on your chest during your sleep.
Despite the fact that Duke is not the brightest cat in the world, he is never afraid and is never not curious about what you're doing and what's going on. Yes he is discombobulated most of the time, but despite that he is always filled with a sense of wonder and whimsy about his surroundings, acting out on every kitty desire and whim to understand what's going on.
Along with that, don't underestimate the appetite of this tabby cat! Duke is a gourmand to put it nicely. Every meal you eat is adorned by his meows and trills of begging for food. Every time you try to cook, Duke will embellish your experience by hopping onto the countertops to help you sauté and taste test your meal. During feeding time, Duke purrs and trills and wraps his entire chubby fluffy body around your legs. He proceeds to look up at you with the biggest most radiant boba eyes that mankind has ever laid eyes on, with the rosiest expression on his chubby little face to thank you graciously for providing him with sustenance. Furthermore, Duke is a fried chicken connoisseur. No matter what brand- Popeyes, Raising Canes, KFC, Duke will always be the first to want a bite. He is not afraid of lying, stealing, and cheating if it means he gets a portion of your fried chicken.
Overall Duke is a beautifully intricate and mischievous cat that deserves to live in a loving home with people that are willing to live alongside his chaos and discover the endless love and laughs he has to offer.


Duke tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
