DESCRIPTION
Louise is a female cat experiencing multiple severe medical concerns, including feline infectious respiratory disease (FIRD) that has not responded to treatment, ringworm, failure to thrive, and a ruptured right eye (OD) that will require surgical enucleation (removal of the eye). Her ruptured eye places her at risk for ongoing pain, worsening inflammation, and additional complications without prompt surgical intervention. Emergency veterinary evaluation and enucleation are recommended to relieve her discomfort and prevent further complications. Additionally, her persistent respiratory illness and failure to thrive require continued specialized medical care, diagnostics, and supportive treatment. This level of surgical intervention, medical management, and postoperative recovery support exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite her condition, Louise remains resilient and is doing her best while receiving supportive care. Louise needs a safe, compassionate placement where she can receive immediate veterinary evaluation, emergency enucleation, continued treatment for her respiratory disease and ringworm, and appropriate nutritional and recovery support to improve her quality of life. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to medical concerns beyond our scope of care. If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing Louise, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov.
