Purrfect Haven Cat Rescue and TNR got a call for help when a family was moving and couldn’t get their pregnant cat into a carrier. We planned to go the next day to trap her… but when we arrived, she had already given birth.

After talking with the homeowners, we learned the heartbreaking truth—this was her third back-to-back litter, and there were multiple other unaltered cats in the home, including five other pregnant mamas. This poor girl’s body had simply been through too much.

Not long after we rescued her, she became very sick. Despite everything we tried, Briar and Brayden’s mama didn’t make it.

These two were rushed into the hands of a bottle feeder, and from that moment on, they were surrounded by love.

Now look at them.

Briar and Brayden are happy, playful, cuddly babies who adore each other—a brother and sister who have been side by side through it all. They sleep together, play together, and find comfort in each other.

They will never know the neglect their mama endured. Only love from here on out.
