DESCRIPTION

Mina is a spunky, sweet, and affectionate young calico, estimated to be just shy of one year old, and has tested neg/neg. Her ear has been tipped, but she has not been back outside since her spay. She is loving life indoors and with her loving and affectionate demeanor, she will do great in a caring home.

Found emaciated, resting in a rose bush during June's series of torrential downpours, she came inside without much fuss and and has gladly gained some weight (though still a tiny 6 lbs). A people-loving cat, she is by no means shy! She will lean into any offers for pets and scritches upon first meet, and will quickly settle into a purr. Certainly opinionated, she will be sure to let you know when she does or doesn't want something with the tone of her crunchy little meow, but is generally quiet when she's going about her day. She is confident, has been careful never to use her claws during play time, and uses the litter box with ease. Energy levels are about medium, and while she likes to play with her wand toy and wrestle crinkly plushies, she has so far only zoomed around once in a blue moon. Although not a lap kitty, she does enjoy napping together and insists on frequent head-rubs. She will even reach out her little paw to give you an affectionate pat when she is in a tender mood!

During her initial quarantine period it became clear that she does not like to be isolated (who does!) and has caused friction irritation on her little nose while I was away at work. This behavior stopped when she was allowed to roam freely in the apartment when unattended, though the wound on her nose is still healing. For this reason, a home dynamic where she is confined to a designated space would not be right for her. She has shown no other destructive tendencies. Though I love her to bits, my cats are a bit older and set in their particularities, so it's best if we're just a pit-stop on her way to her forever home. Due to her spunkiness, she is not likely to do well with anxious or timid pets, and at this stage she may even be happiest as the only fur-baby in the house so she can soak up all the attention. With patience and the right personalities, she could potentially get along with one other animal in the home if they are calm, easy going, and can be happy and comfortable letting her be the boss. She would likely enjoy spending time with an older child who can be gentle and understand her boundaries.
