Meet Chance, a handsome brown tabby with the sweetest face and the cutest little lopsided smile. His unique jaw gives him an unforgettable look, but it's also a reminder of just how far he's come. After everything he's endured, Chance has never stopped believing in people—and now he's searching for the family that will give him the happy ending he deserves.

Chance's story is one of incredible resilience. Originally found as a stray in Indiana, he arrived at a shelter skinny, filthy, and in excruciating pain. A severely broken jaw had healed incorrectly while he was living on the streets, leaving him unable to close his mouth fully. Even partially closing his jaws allowed his canine teeth to painfully pierce the roof of his mouth. Eating was nearly impossible, and with limited resources available, his future looked heartbreakingly bleak. Just minutes before his scheduled euthanasia, Forever Fortunate Felines stepped in to give him the second chance that inspired his new name.

Today, thanks to more than $1,300 in specialized dental care and extractions, Chance is finally living the life he has always deserved. He's pain-free, gaining back healthy weight, and soaking up every bit of love that comes his way. His jaw will always be a little crooked, but it doesn't slow him down one bit. He will need to remain on a pté diet for the next few months while everything continues to heal, and his adopter should expect a little extra drooling and a somewhat messy eater. The good news? Chance absolutely adores his wet food and is more than happy to clean his plate every single time.

If you're looking for a cat who loves with his whole heart, Chance is your boy. He is the definition of a Velcro cat—a true lap cat who wants nothing more than to be wherever you are. He'll happily follow you from room to room with his adorable little nasally meow, politely asking for pets and attention. Belly rubs? Yes, please! Cuddles? The more the better! He simply wants to love and be loved.

Chance is in a foster home with a resident cat and small, calm dog. He seems total fine with the dog and doesn't mind his presence at all, so he might be a good fit for a home with a friendly canine companion! He has not yet been introduced to the resident cat in his foster home, so we aren't sure how he would do with a feline friend, but we think he would enjoy a kitty friend to play with so long as he gets a slow and careful introduction. And when it comes to people...Chance has never met someone he doesn't want to make his new bestfriend! We don't know if he's met any children, but he is very loving and patient with his foster mom's autistic adult son, so we think he would be an excellent family cat. He loves all people and wants to be at the center of the action. Social butterfly doesn't even begin to cover it!

Chance also has a wonderfully playful side. When he first arrived in foster care, it was obvious he'd never seen cat toys before. Life on the streets hadn't exactly offered opportunities for play. But once he realized toys were meant to be fun, he blossomed. Now he leaps, flips, and chases wand toys with joyful enthusiasm, and he loves batting around soft little toys between cuddle sessions. Watching him discover the simple joys of just being a cat has been nothing short of magical.

Food is another one of Chance's greatest loves, and after spending so long wondering where his next meal would come from, it's easy to understand why. Every meal is a celebration, and every day he seems a little happier, healthier, and more confident.

Chance has survived more than most cats ever should, yet he has remained incredibly affectionate, trusting, and full of joy.
