DESCRIPTION

We are urgently looking for a forever home or a foster to adopt home for the charming Mr. Oliver!

Oliver is about 4 years old and was being fed by a very kind senior lady who reached out for help. He is super friendly and has a very easy-going laid-back personality. Oliver is very good and accepting of both the small 10 pound dog and the large German Sheppard in his foster home - he has no fear or aggression with either of them.

Oliver loves treats and comes when called. He likes to play with toys on a rope, where he can chase them. Oliver loves being pet and will come and sit beside you - he loves tummy rubs. He is a very sweet boy.

Oliver has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He does need a dental cleaning which we have booked for Sept 15th and will complete at our cost.

Oliver did test positive for FIV. FIV is a feline only, slow-acting virus that compromises a cat's immune system over a long period of time. Cats can live long healthy indoor lives with FIV. FIV cannot be transmitted to people or other animal species and it is not easily passed to other cats. FIV is passed between cats through a deep bite deep enough to inject saliva into the bloodstream of the other cat. You often see these types of bites with males fighting for territory outdoors. FIV is "NOT" passed between cats through shared food bowls, shared litter boxes or through playing, wrestling or licking/cleaning each other. Purdue Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine conducted a long-term study in cat shelters and found that FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats and not infect the FIV-negative cats during normal day-to-day interaction. Studies over the last 10 years have also shown that cats with FIV often live as long as cats that do not have this virus. We have included a link to information on FIV below.
