Felv+ - Meet Domino – the Comeback Cat!

Domino is a handsome 4-year-old tuxedo who's been through more than most cats ever will, but he's finally ready for his happy ending! This resilient boy was left behind in Hartford when his owners were evicted and was found eating old food from the garbage with no food or water left in the apartment. Once rescued, Domino's health took a turn for the worse—likely from how he'd been living—and he spent a week in the emergency vet. With excellent care and a strong will to live, he made a full recovery. Just as we were preparing to put him up for adoption, Domino was diagnosed with FIP, a disease that was once considered fatal. After 168 days of treatment and observation. Domino is now healthy, happy, and officially FIP-free! He doesn't require any ongoing treatment at this time. If all this wasn't enough of Domino's medical challenges, Domino is feline leukemia postive (FeLV+) - confirmed through the FeLV Real PCR Test). Unfortunately, this means that he is NOT able to be around other cats (unless they are also leukemia positive). We know with the right FOREVER FOSTER or FOREVER ADOPTER, he will continue to flourish. We want nothing more than to find a home that will love and spoil Domino as he deserves it after everything he has been through.

Domino is a confident, affectionate cat who loves attention but can get a little overstimulated—he'll let you know with a playful “love bite.” Because of this, he would do best with a cat-savvy owner and a home without small children. When he's not snuggling or playing, Domino enjoys squeezing himself into boxes, bins, and baskets—if it fits, he sits! He's also known for one funny little quirk: he loves masking tape, so his new owner will need to keep tape (and other tempting items) out of reach. About FeLV:
FeLV, or feline leukemia virus, is a retrovirus that only infects cats and is contagious to other cats through prolonged exposure. The virus weakens the immune system and makes the host susceptible to other illnesses. Cats who are infected progressively typically live for years without showing any signs or symptoms and live, on average, for 3-5-years, although some may succumb sooner and some live much longer. Typically, care for an FeLV+ cat is exactly the same as a non-infected cat, although including immuno-supplements and being vigilant about vet care, including repeating bloodwork every so often to check levels, is important to ensure a healthier lifespan.Feline Leukemia is only contagious to other cats. It is species specific and not contagious to other pets or people.

Domino is negative for FIV, receive age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, are spayed/neutered and are microchipped (free lifetime registration with adoption).
