ROSCOE SURVIVES FIRE! My name is Roscoe and I am a very sweet, gorgeous long haired tuxedo. I am great with other cats, kids and dogs. I am homeless because my owner and her son died in a fire trying to save the lives of their pets. They had 2 cats and 2 dogs. The dogs were absorbed by surviving family members, but they could not take the cats.
My tail was singed in the fire. I escaped and hid for a couple weeks in the nearby neighborhood. I came back to my home after the fire subsided and hid in the rubble of the son's bedroom where I used to live. Surviving family members found me in the rubble two weeks later under what used to be his bed. Since I had long fur, everyone believed it was just some mattes on my tail. After time, the fur became imbedded in the wounds and I went to the vet to check to see what had happened. After multiple visits trying to get the skin to grow back from my degloved tail--3.5 inches was amputated. My owner was a long time volunteer with another group and she was the volunteer coordinator for the cages at PetSense in Shallotte. She did trap/neuter/return and helped to fix countless cats over the years. I am hoping someone would adopt me in her honor or at least donate to this group who provided me with needed medical care and who is working to find me a home.
Permission has been granted to us to share my story with you by the family since this is very sensitive. Cindy was airlifted to Chapel Hill and later passed away. Can you honor her memory by providing me a home? Would you consider taking MOOCH too? He has been returned. If you cannot adopt either of us will you honor her with a donation to help pay for my vet care and to provide for other homeless animals? That would make her so happy and is the right way to honor her contributions to animal welfare. If you would like more info please call Jill at 910-620-3783. Lots of animals are homeless out there for lots of less reasons, but I really lost my home and my family and they would have never given me up for any other reason. I think a fire is the only justifiable reason Cindy would have ever given me up.
