Meet Nansea!
She is a sweet and gentle cat who has been dealt a rough hand and experienced quite a bit of trauma in the last 2 months.
She came to us with her very small kitten, after being at a ranch outside of Baker City, OR. Most of her kittens did not make it due to prey and harsh winter conditions.
Upon our first meeting with Nansea, it was apparent she needed immediate vet care for a large, bleeding wound near her left ear. Our vet wanted to keep her over the weekend to watch and see. He came to the conclusion that this wound was actually a type of carcinoma/cancer and in the meantime she also tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
Making the decision to operate meant that Nansea would have a hard time healing with FIV. We made the choice to go ahead, knowing she deserved this chance- a chance to be somebody's love. A chance to be an indoor cat. A chance at being spoiled. A chance at never feeling the cold snowy ground again or giving birth to another round of kittens. We can only imagine the litters she must've had! We knew we HAD to do this for her.
And our vet was right, this has been a long and hard recovery for Nansea-BUT she is doing it!!
Now, we need to find the PURR-fect home for her. It should be a nice mellow environment, with a loving human who truly knows how lucky and special
Nansea is. A home that is willing to give her quality care for her remaining years! (FIV kitties live wonderful lives when kept healthy, although perhaps a bit shorter than the average life span for a cat)
