Meet Susie

Beautiful Susie is a shiny black beauty estimated to be about 2 years old, and her story is one of patience, trust, and learning that the world can actually be a pretty wonderful place.

Susie came to us after being a wonderful mama to her kittens. When she first arrived, she was painfully shy. She was never mean — not a hiss, scratch, or swat. She always allowed us to pet her, but she simply didn't know how to relax and trust that she was safe.

With lots of love, patience, and time, Susie has blossomed. She has learned how to enjoy affection, feel comfortable around her people, and simply be a happy, normal cat. Watching her confidence grow has been incredibly special.

And along the way, something even sweeter happened: she found Barry.

Susie and Barry met in foster care and became the unlikeliest of best friends. Barry has become Susie's friend, companion, and emotional support kitty, and the two have developed the most beautiful relationship.

Because of how much comfort and confidence they give one another, we would absolutely love to see Susie and Barry adopted together. After everything Susie has overcome, having her best friend beside her as she starts the next chapter of her life would be the happiest ending we could imagine.

Susie may need a little patience as she adjusts to another new environment, but she's already shown us what happens when someone gives her the time and love she deserves.
