Some cats have a way of making you believe in second chances. Big Buddy is one of those cats.

This handsome, almost 15-pound gentleman came into rescue after suffering a severe burn injury caused by unkind people. Despite everything he endured, Big Buddy never let humans or life take away the most important thing about him — his loving, trusting heart. His past may have been painful, but his future is filled with nothing but love, and he is ready to share that love with a family of his own.
Big Buddy is FIV-positive, but please dont let that label scare you away from meeting this incredible boy. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is often misunderstood. Cats with FIV can live long, happy, healthy lives, and many FIV-positive cats live just as long as cats without FIV. FIV is not a death sentence, and it is not something that should prevent a cat from being adopted into a loving home.

FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, which is why friendly, social cats like Big Buddy can safely live with other cats. It is not spread through normal daily interactions like sharing food and water bowls, grooming each other, playing, sleeping together, or simply being part of the family. Big Buddy has proven this every single day in foster care. He currently lives with cats, dogs, and humans, and he has never met a creature he didnt want to love.
Since arriving in foster care, Big Buddy has become the ultimate friend. He is buddies with every foster cat and every permanent resident in the home. He shares his space happily with two dogs who dont bother him at all, and he doesnt let anything stop him from enjoying life. He is proof that FIV-positive cats can be wonderful companions and amazing additions to a multi-pet household.
Beyond his resilience, Big Buddy is just plain fun. He is loving, playful, and has the sweetest goofy personality. He will roll around with the other cats like a silly kitten, inviting them to play and showing everyone that he is ready for fun. He also has a very special obsession... shoes. Yes, shoes. Nothing makes Big Buddy happier than a delicious Fancy Feast meal followed by finding the perfect pair of shoes on the floor to curl up on. His quirky little habits bring laughter to his foster mom every single day.

In the six months he has spent with his foster mom and dad, Big Buddy has gone from a cat in need to a deeply loved member of the family. He has shown them just how special he is — not because of what he has been through, but because of who he is.

Big Buddy would truly fit into almost any home. He would be happy as someones one and only companion, soaking up all the love and attention, or he would thrive in a home with other pets and children who understand that he is a big, gentle, playful lovebug. He has so much affection to give and so much life left to enjoy.
