Will purr for food. Does that make me a hobo? I was showing up at the home of a Paws and Claws volunteer every now and then in late summer. After a few weeks I was brave enough to let her pet me. You know what happens, right? Summer turns to fall and fall turns to winter. Brrr! The woman picked me up and moved me onto her front porch. It’s not heated, but she had heated mats and a heated water bowl. It was a lot better than being outdoors! I loved having regular meals! She’ll tell you that I’m not shy about asking for food. I let her pick me up so I could sit with her on the porch. I swished my tail back and forth, purring the whole time. I never crawled up on my own though because I’m a shy guy. It will take a while for me to build trust with someone new. Now that I’m at the shelter, I am meeting a lot of strangers – volunteers and staff they call themselves. I like petting, but I mostly stay in my kennel so far. I’m a handsome young fellow, maybe only about 3 1/2 years old, and I’m really sweet once you get to know me. If you’re patient and kind, I’ll bet we could be friends. Wouldn’t you love to have a mild-mannered cat named Ben?
