Theia the CH kitty
Are you looking for a true inspiration? Just wait until you read this post!
We’ll begin with a beautiful quote from Theia’s foster mom:
“She’s inspired me with her strength and determination to use her front legs, showing that no matter what, you just keep on going with what God has given you.”
Theia’s story is a powerful reminder that strength isn’t always about how much you have; it’s about what you choose to do with what you’ve been given.
2-year-old Theia is a very special girl who was born with CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia), which sounds scary, but it just means she has a wobbly, unsteady way of walking. CH is not contagious, it isn’t progressive, and it doesn’t mean the cat is sick or in pain.
These cats simply have varying degrees of coordination and balance issues. Theia has learned to get around in her own adorable way, and she doesn't need someone to constantly care for her or treat her like a fragile patient.
In fact, she's a pretty easy girl to care for. She needs the same things any other young cat needs: good food, love, a safe home, and someone who appreciates her for exactly who she is.
Her foster mom absolutely adores her and says Theia always knows how to make her smile.
She especially loves the way Theia comes flying out of her little house when she gets home, dragging herself across the floor to greet her. She’ll make her way over, plop herself down right beside her, and happily say hello. It’s such a sweet reminder that sometimes the smallest greetings can bring the biggest smiles. She is also happy cuddling on your lap or by your side while you sit watching TV. She just LOVES to be with her human!
She may be able to share her home with another mellow cat. She is currently living with a few low-key cats and, although it took her some time to feel comfortable with them, she has adjusted well. Her initial hesitation seemed to stem from a fear that she would not be able to defend herself if needed.
Her environment may need a few simple accommodations—things like keeping food, water, and litter easily accessible and avoiding situations where she could fall—but there is no reason she can't have a happy, full, and very normal life.
And honestly? Once you meet her, you may forget she has CH at all.
She is a young cat with so much love and life ahead of her. She deserves someone who won't look at her wobbly walk and see a problem. We hope someone will look at her and see what we see: a wonderful little cat who is waiting for someone to give her a chance.
If you’ve ever thought about adopting a special-needs cat but worried that it would mean taking on something overwhelming, Theia might be the girl you've been waiting for.
