Sometimes healing looks like a friend reaching through the bars of a kennel just to make sure you know you aren't alone.

Mercedes knows what it feels like to have your whole world disappear.

She had a home. She was already spayed. She was living the life she knew.

Then one day, her owner dumped her on a farm and drove away.

When Mercedes came to Saved by Zade, she needed extensive dental work, an eye enucleation because of a deep wound, and something just as important: time to heal emotionally.

Then there was Suzuki.

Suzuki was born in a home, but no one chose her when her siblings were given away. When her family moved, they put six-week-old Suzuki outside and left.

No mom. No siblings. No home.

Just a tiny baby suddenly left to fend for herself.

The world can be incredibly cruel to kitties.

But in foster care, these two ladies found each other.

They bonded deeply, becoming each other's comfort while they learned that life could be safe again.

When Mercedes went away for her eye surgery, Suzuki cried all day.

When Mercedes returned, she had to stay in a kennel while she recovered. Suzuki reached her paw through the bars and slept beside her that way.

She just needed to be touching her.

Because neither of them needed to wonder what it felt like to be left alone anymore. They had each other.

Mercedes and Suzuki are still slow to warm up to people. They need an adopter who understands that trust takes time, patience, and consistency.

They have already learned how much better healing can be when you don't have to do it alone.

Now they need someone willing to help them take the next step.
