Kiwi a énormément progressé depuis son arrivée au refuge en 2022. Pendant longtemps, il a vécu dans la grande salle des chats sociables. Il a toujours été un chat très actif, curieux et joueur, mais ce n'est que depuis quelques mois qu'il accepte de plus en plus les caresses, au plus grand bonheur des bénévoles qui travaillent à sa socialisation.

Ce magnifique chat noir à poils longs, maintenant âgé de près de 5 ans, a parcouru un long chemin. Sa confiance s'est bâtie grâce à beaucoup d'amour, de patience... et une bonne quantité de gâteries crémeuses (Creamy)! En respectant son rythme et en créant des associations positives, Kiwi a appris que les humains pouvaient être une source de réconfort et de sécurité. Kiwi adore jouer! Les cannes à pêche, les pointeurs laser et les jouets interactifs font partie de ses activités préférées. Très curieux, il aime aussi se percher en hauteur afin d'observer tout ce qui se passe autour de lui.

Pour l'aider à développer sa confiance, nous avons utilisé ce que nous appelons la « patte magique » : une longue cuillère de bois avec une petite patte fixée au bout, qui permettait un contact doux et indirect, à une distance confortable pour lui. Aujourd'hui, Kiwi est à l'aise avec le contact direct, mais toujours selon ses conditions. Il est important de respecter son rythme et son niveau de confort; c'est en lui laissant le contrôle qu'il continue de gagner en confiance et de s'épanouir.

Avec sa magnifique longue fourrure, Kiwi aura besoin d'un brossage régulier afin de garder son pelage en bonne santé et d'éviter la formation de nœuds inconfortables. Ces moments de toilettage pourront aussi devenir une belle façon de poursuivre son apprivoisement et de renforcer le lien de confiance avec sa future famille.

Afin de maintenir sa santé, Kiwi doit continuer à manger une nourriture urinaire spécialisée. Cette alimentation joue un rôle important pour soutenir sa santé urinaire et aider à prévenir de futurs problèmes urinaires. Une bonne hydratation est également importante et devrait faire partie de sa routine quotidienne.

Après toutes ces années au refuge, Kiwi est maintenant prêt à donner une chance à une famille de l'intégrer dans sa vie. Il aura besoin d'une famille patiente, douce et prête à respecter son rythme, mais en retour, elle découvrira un chat unique, attachant et rempli de potentiel. Kiwi mérite la chance de connaître le confort d'un foyer et de continuer à montrer tout ce qu'il a à offrir.

Kiwi est un chat adulte, dont les frais d'adoption sont de 290$. Il est stérilisé, vacciné, micropucé et négatif pour le virus de l'immunodéficience féline (VIF) ainsi que la leucose féline (FeLV).

He has always been a very active, curious, and playful cat, but it is only in the past few months that he has started accepting more and more affection, much to the delight of the volunteers who have been working on his socialization.

This beautiful long-haired black cat, now almost 5 years old, has come a long way. His trust was built through lots of love, patience... and a good amount of Creamy treats! By respecting his pace and creating positive associations, Kiwi has learned that humans can be a source of comfort and security. Kiwi absolutely love to play! Wand toys, laser pointers, and interactive toys are some of his favorite activities. He is very curious and also enjoys being up high so he can observe everything happening around him.

To help him build confidence, we used what we call the “magic paw”: a long wooden spoon with a small paw attached to the end, which allowed for gentle, indirect contact from a comfortable distance. Today, Kiwi is comfortable with direct contact, but always on his own terms. It is important to respect his pace and comfort level; by allowing him to stay in control, he continues to grow in confidence and thrive.

With his beautiful long coat, Kiwi will need regular brushing to keep his fur healthy and prevent uncomfortable mats from forming. These grooming sessions can also become a wonderful way to continue building trust and strengthening the bond with his future family.

To maintain his health, Kiwi must continue eating a specialized urinary diet. This food plays an important role in supporting his urinary health and helping prevent future urinary issues. Good hydration is also important and should be encouraged as part of his daily routine.

After all these years at the shelter, Kiwi is now ready to give a family the chance to welcome him into their lives. He will need a patient, gentle family who is willing to respect his pace, but in return, they will discover a unique, loving cat with so much potential. Kiwi deserves the opportunity to experience the comfort of a home and continue showing everything he has to offer.

Kiwi is an adult
cat, therefore the adoption fee is $290$. He is sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped, and has tested negative for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FeLV).

Six weeks of pet insurance are included with the adoption. You will also have access to support from our adoption team for as long as needed, as well as a free 30-minute video consultation within the first month after adoption with our feline behavior consultant, FelineGood
