Calypsos story is one of resilience and love. When she came to Rileys Rescue, she had been surviving outdoors and was starving—not just for food, but for affection. From the moment she arrived, all she wanted was to be held. She would happily melt into your arms and soak up every bit of love she had been missing.
When one of our new volunteers met her, Calypso wasted no time climbing into her lap and made it very clear she had no intention of leaving. She truly is a people-loving cat who craves companionship and enjoys being as close to her humans as possible.
Adjusting to indoor life hasnt always been easy. Calypso disliked quarantine and had to learn how to socialize with other cats after spending so much time fending for herself outdoors. Because she experienced food insecurity, she can become protective of her meals if another cat approaches. The good news is that she doesnt seek out conflict or attack other cats—she simply communicates that she wants her space while eating. This is a behavior we have already seen improve with patience, routine, and positive experiences.
We will continue working with Calypso while she is in our care and are committed to helping her future family understand how to continue building her confidence. We are always available for guidance after adoption.
If youre looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to curl up in your lap and remind you every day how grateful she is to be loved, Calypso may be the perfect addition to your family.
