Buffy and Gidget are a bonded pair of five-year-old Quaker parrots who have spent their entire lives together, and it's impossible to imagine one without the other. Their friendship is the heart of who they are, and they're looking for a home that will cherish them as the inseparable duo they are.
Buffy is the self-appointed Queen of the Household, who takes her job of protecting Gidget very seriously. Whether it's a suspicious new toy or something unfamiliar in their environment, Buffy is always ready to stand between her best friend and anything she considers a threat. Gidget is happy to let Buffy take the lead, and you'll often find the two of them preening each other or enjoying a quiet moment side by side.
Both girls are friendly and hand-tame once they're out of their cage, but like many Quakers, they're protective of their space. They'll often choose when they're ready to step up, and patient, respectful handling goes a long way toward earning their trust. They're also very expressive, delighting their favorite people with games of peekaboo, sweet "kisses," and plenty of Quaker chatter.
These active girls are fully flighted and love stretching their wings around the house during supervised out-of-cage time. They enjoy shredding paper toys, exploring, and spending time together. Their bond means they naturally spend much of their attention on one another, so they're happiest with someone who appreciates watching their relationship blossom rather than expecting them to be constantly focused on people.
They currently eat a healthy Roudybush pellet diet and enjoy sampling fresh fruits and vegetables, with richer treats reserved for special occasions and training.
Because Quakers are enthusiastic vocalizers, Buffy and Gidget can be loud and would do best in a home without shared walls. They would also prefer a home without young children, as their cage protectiveness could be overwhelming for inexperienced handlers. They are best suited for adopters who already have parrot experience and understand that bonded birds build their strongest relationship with each other first.
If you've always admired the unique joy of watching two birds who truly adore one another, Buffy and Gidget may be the perfect pair. They would love to meet you!
Adoption fee: $400 for the pair
