Ollie is a 5 year old male cockatiel. Well loved but his family moved to Alaska and couldn't take him along. He is a good flier and likes to make a circuit. Yay, great for his heart health! But this means he needs a home that will be very conscientious of safety (doors, fans, hot water, etc). Because if cockatiels escape, they can fly pretty far, pretty quickly, and are rarely recovered. It's a good idea to create some "landing zones", usually up high, that will give him some safe places to land and spend happy time outside of the cage.
Ollie likes to bathe in a Pyrex glass dish or under the kitchen faucet. He likes shreddable toys, and just generally enjoys life and time with his people friends. We are going to introduce him to Sidney cockatiel, because Ollie might appreciate having a cockatiel friend too.
IMPORTANT PROCESS INFORMATION: Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption and education process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, but there are many other birds waiting for our help who are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots!
To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt
ONLY AREAS OF OPERATION: Phoenix Landing serves only Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northeast Florida. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged
