Your generosity makes this possible!

Meet Oppenheimer, a sweet little Yorkie mix with silky silver hair, adorable tall ears, and long legs that give him plenty of character. This gentle guy is happiest when he's getting belly rubs and ear scratches. In fact, he'll happily roll onto his back and stay there as long as you're willing to keep the belly rubs coming! Oppenheimer is a confident little fellow who settles into new surroundings quickly. He has done well with his foster's two small dogs and enjoys keeping an eye on what everyone is doing. While he may bark at an unfamiliar noise-especially if his foster sister joins in-he responds well to gentle correction.

He walks beautifully on leash and has not shown any reactivity toward people or other dogs during neighborhood strolls. One thing Oppenheimer has made very clear is that he's not a fan of hot weather. After taking care of business, he'll often seek out a shady spot to sit or lie down for a break before continuing on. It's one of his many endearing little habits. Once the walk is over, he's ready to head back inside, bouncing excitedly at the door to let you know he's finished with the great outdoors. Oppenheimer appears to be mostly house-trained when kept on a consistent schedule. He's learned to go to the door when he wants to head outside, whether it's for a potty break or simply a quick sniff around the yard. After walks and potty breaks, he's always happy to accept a treat-and does so with the gentlest manners.

This sweet boy loves being near his people and quickly becomes your little shadow, following you from room to room just to make sure he knows where you are. He thrives on companionship and likes feeling close to his family. One thing Oppenheimer would prefer to leave behind is crate life. Crates seem to make him anxious and uncomfortable, and he does much better when given the freedom to settle in a safe space of his choosing. At night, he often prefers sleeping in the bathroom, though he'll occasionally hop onto the bed for a visit before returning to his favorite spot.

Oppenheimer is a gentle, loving little man who doesn't ask for much-just a little attention, a little affection, and a place where he feels safe. Most of the time, you'll hardly know he's there because he's so quiet. That is, until you leave the room. Then, like any devoted shadow, he'll be right behind you, ready to accompany you wherever life takes you next.
