Rena is a sweet 4-year-old girl who has quickly proven herself to be an easy, lovable companion! She’s the kind of dog who is happy to relax and loaf around the house most of the day, keeping you company with her calm, easygoing presence.

She’s both potty trained and crate trained, has wonderful house manners, and greets people politely without jumping. Rena is generally a quiet girl who isn’t much of a barker and doesn’t rush doors or try to bolt outside. Her foster also reports that she hasn’t shown any food, toy, or water aggression toward people or other dogs.

While she enjoys her chill time indoors, Rena absolutely LOVES going for walks! The moment the leash comes out, she lights up with excitement. Walks are her time to explore the world—she especially enjoys stopping to sniff the grass and investigate all the interesting smells she finds along the way. She walks nicely on leash overall, though she may pull just a little if she finds a spot she really wants to check out. She’s not reactive to other dogs on walks and would do wonderfully in a dog-friendly neighborhood or community.

Rena rides well in the car, does great during bath time, and while nail trims aren’t her favorite activity, she patiently tolerates them. Like many Labs, she has been known to counter surf if something tempting is left within reach, but otherwise she has very nice manners around the house.

One of Rena’s favorite places to be is right next to you on the couch. She loves to cuddle and is fully convinced she’s actually a 60-pound lap dog. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who enjoys both relaxing at home and getting out for a good sniffy walk, Rena might just be your perfect match.

This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason.
