Arriving on March 21, Viejita is in need of a foster OR foster-to-adopt home!
About Our Senior Gal:
Name: Viejita (Spanish for "elderly woman")
Stats: 9-year-old Senior Female | 22 lbs
Breed: Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless) Mix
Social: Friendly with people and other dogs.
The "Hairless in NYC" Warning
Viejita is mostly hairless. Coming from sunny Mexico to a New York winter is a major shock to the system. Her new family must have a turtleneck and puffer coat ready for her arrival—NYC winters are no joke for a hairless pup!
Important Logistics & Expectations
Training: Like many international rescues, Viejita will need patience and a refresher on house-training and leash-walking starting on Day 1.
Medical Need: Viejita is known to have kidney disease. Prescription renal diet is required is routine bloodwork to monitor disease progression.
Location Priority: Priority is given to residents of the 5 boroughs of NYC.
Out-of-Borough Applicants: You are welcome to apply, but you must be willing to travel into NYC for:
The transport pick-up on March 21.
All veterinary services and check-ups.
Mandatory adoption events.
Medical Status
Viejita arrives fully vetted:
Vaccinated (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella)
Spayed & Microchipped
Tested for vector-borne illnesses
Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
Ready to give this senior girl the retirement she deserves? Submit your Dog Foster Application ASAP to be considered for her arrival on March 21.
To apply to foster/foster-to-adopt Viejita, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
