Wirehaired Terrier and Australian Shepherd Dogs Available for Adoption

Willie is a 1.5‐year‐old, 37‐pound Wirehaired Terrier/Australian Shepherd mix with a coat that could win awards. Mostly brindle with a striking white chest and little white “socks,” he looks like he walked straight out of a dog‐modeling catalog. But his personality is even better.

Willie is the full package: dog‐, kid‐, and cat‐friendly, happy to meet absolutely anyone, and always ready to play with other pups. He loves activity—hikes, neighborhood patrols, sniffing out imaginary dangers, you name it—but he also knows how to settle in and snuggle when the day winds down. He’d thrive in an active household that enjoys bringing him along while going out and doing things, then coming home for a nice snuggle session.

He’s silly, social, and endlessly lovable. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion who brings joy to every moment, Willie is ready to join the adventure.

Willie is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

Given the conditions Willie originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Willie has completed his Heartworm treatment.

It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.*

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own.
