Rooster is a charming little guy who’s ready to settle into his next chapter and show his people just how special he is.
Found as a stray in Splendora, Texas, Rooster is a petite pup at around 10 pounds and estimated to be between 1–3 years old. He can be a little unsure at first, especially when meeting new dogs, and may act a bit bossy — but don’t let that fool you. He warms up quickly, usually within a day, and genuinely enjoys being around other dogs. He currently kennels with another dog and does well sharing space, enjoying gentle wrestling and playful interactions.
Rooster has a great balance of energy. He’s playful and goofy without being overwhelming, and he also loves slowing things down for lap time and cuddles. He’s very affectionate, eager to please, and treat-motivated, which makes him easy to work with. He’s crate trained, does well in a kennel, and only barks occasionally — nothing excessive.
He enjoys toys, loves being close to his people, and forms sweet bonds with both men and women. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, his overall temperament suggests he may do fine with proper, slow introductions.
Rooster has a wiry little coat, a happy personality, and a lot of heart. He can be slightly shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, his true charm shines through. He would likely enjoy having another small dog buddy, but he’s just as content soaking up love and attention from his humans.
Rooster would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a small, affectionate dog with a playful spirit and a big heart. With a little patience and a lot of love, he’ll reward you with loyalty, cuddles, and plenty of smiles!
