Recently transitioning to CARE STL after the passing of his owner, this distinguished fellow has proven himself to be a resilient, "house-proud" gentleman. He is fully potty trained, crate trained, and a total superstar in the car. Whether he's snoozing in his open crate or sitting politely for his next adventure, Nelly carries himself with a grace that makes him an absolute joy to have in the home.
Nelly's true passion, however, is the great outdoors. He is a vibrant, semi-athletic soul who lives for his time in the sunshine. While he is a dream on a leash, he possesses a high prey drive and will eagerly try to join the local deer (or dogs) for a sprint. So, a secure tall fence is a must for this "Nitro" boy! On walks, he is a social butterfly, always keen to greet other dogs with a wagging tail. He is a friend to every human he meets and is more than happy to reciprocate any attention you give him with a round of big, slobbery kisses.
Don't let the "senior" tag fool you-Nelly is an incredibly sharp student who is always looking for ways to earn a treat. He has already mastered "sit" and "paw," and he has been making impressive strides with "down" and "roll." Because he is so food-motivated, training is a fantastic way to bond with him. Please note that while Nelly loves people and other dogs, he has a strict "no cats" policy. He finds feline friends far too exciting to ignore and will let them know exactly how he feels with a loud bark, so he is looking for a cat-free forever home.
