Meet Stanley!
Stanley is a 1-year-old Terrier mix with a sweet, gentle personality and a curious little soul. He loves exploring his surroundings, checking out what's happening indoors and outside, and finding the coziest spot to curl up in. Whether he's burrowing under blankets, snuggling into a fluffy bed, or stretching out on the couch for some belly rubs, Stanley knows how to enjoy the good life!
This happy little guy has made wonderful progress in his foster home. He is doing great with leash training and now enjoys daily walks. He may have been unsure about the leash at first, but with patience and consistency, he has gained confidence and really taken to his walks. He loves stopping along the way to take in all the sights and sounds-and he has recently discovered that squirrels and chipmunks are VERY interesting! Because of his curiosity and developing recall, his family should plan to keep him leashed outside until he is fully trustworthy off leash, and a securely fenced yard would be a great bonus.
Stanley is very social with other dogs and has done well with the two resident dogs in his foster home. He has gone from quietly carrying soft toys to his bed to actually initiating playtime with wrestling and chasing! He would likely enjoy having a confident, medium-energy canine companion to show him the ropes and keep him company.
Stanley is wonderful with people and especially enjoys spending time with his foster dad. He loves attention, gives kisses, and will happily snuggle beside you when he's in the mood. He also has an independent streak and likes having the freedom to make his own choices. He doesn't always appreciate being picked up or restrained, so he would do best in a home without small children. Respectful older children may be a good match.
Stanley is still working on his housetraining and will need a family willing to continue his training and give him plenty of opportunities to succeed. He can get so fascinated by everything happening outside that he sometimes forgets why he went out in the first place! He is smart, curious, and making progress, so consistency and patience will be important.
Stanley is also a relatively quiet guy, with very little barking-although he may occasionally let you know when the neighbors are outside. At the end of the day, his favorite place may be right next to you, preferably on your bed, where he can claim a pillow or burrow under the covers.
Stanley is a sweet, happy, independent little guy who is ready for a family that will continue building his confidence, introduce him to new experiences, and give him plenty of love and attention. If you're looking for a curious companion with a big personality packed into a little Terrier mix, Stanley may be your guy.
