// // Meet Alexis — “Lexi” to those lucky enough to know her. Alexis is a tender-hearted, 25 lb. 1.5 -year-old terrier mix with a gentle soul and a deep capacity for love. She may be shy at first, but behind those cautious eyes is a little girl who desperately wants to feel safe, loved, and at home. Once she bonds with you, she becomes an incredibly devoted companion who wants nothing more than to curl up in your lap and stay close by your side. Lexi has clearly been through more than her fair share in her short life, and because of that, she struggles with trust—especially around new people and particularly men. She has formed a strong bond with her foster, but she is still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place. She will need a very patient, understanding adopter who is willing to give her the time and space she needs to come out of her shell at her own pace. The good news is that Lexi loves other animals. She does wonderfully with both dogs and cats and will absolutely need a home with a confident, friendly dog who can help show her the ropes and build her confidence. Having a canine companion makes her feel safe and helps her open up more quickly. Lexi is fully potty trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. While she thrives in a calm, predictable home (no young children, please), she would also greatly benefit from an adopter who can gently and consistently introduce her to the world. With the right person, Lexi has the potential to enjoy an active life—going on walks, exploring new places, and learning that the world outside isn’t something to fear, but something to enjoy. This sweet girl is not a “ready-made” dog—but for the right person, she will be something even more special. She is a quiet, loyal companion in the making, just waiting for someone with a big heart and a gentle approach to show her that she will never be abandoned again. If you believe in second chances and have the patience to let love grow slowly, Lexi will reward you with a bond that is truly one of a kind. She is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on all vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300.
All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.
