Watermelon is the definition of a quiet, loyal companion. While she can be a little fearful in new situations, she warms up quickly once she realizes she's safe and loved. A few gentle words, some patience, and a belly rub are usually all it takes to win her over. In fact, once you start petting her, don't be surprised if she nudges your hand when you stop—she firmly believes that all good things, especially belly rubs, should continue indefinitely!
She appears to have been someone's beloved pet in the past. She's potty-trained, crate-trained, and already knows "sit." She's currently working on expanding her obedience skills and enjoys learning when given encouragement and positive reinforcement.
She gets along well with other calm dogs and even does well with small dogs—a trait that's not always easy to find. While she'll tolerate an enthusiastic canine friend, she'd much rather spend her time with dogs who respect her personal space and don't constantly jump all over her.
More than anything, she's looking for a peaceful home where she can be a steady, devoted presence. She isn't interested in being the life of the party; she'd rather be your faithful sidekick, joining you for walks, relaxing by your side, and offering quiet companionship after a long day. With her gentle nature, she would do best in a home without small children, as loud noises and sudden movements can make her uncomfortable.
This beautiful girl may not demand the spotlight, but she's truly a hidden gem. If you're looking for a loyal friend with a kind heart, gentle soul, and endless love to give, she just might be the perfect match for you. Watermelon is currently located at our offsite facility in Ravenel where the atmosphere is a bit more peaceful. Please email TransitionCenter@charlestonanimalsociety.org to set up an appointment to meet her!
