Meet Rusty

Rusty was found running loose in the woods in South Jersey and was safely trapped by a local rescuer. When dogs are loose and need to be trapped, they are often operating in pure fight-or-flight mode, so it's understandable that Rusty has needed some time to adjust to life in the shelter.

Rusty is estimated to be about 4 years old and weighs just 13 pounds. He is very nervous, but we are seeing more and more of his sweet personality come through each day as he begins to feel safe.

We don't know what Rusty has experienced before coming to us, but we do know that he deserves the time and patience to learn that he is safe. He is looking for an adult-only home that will give him the space he needs to decompress, build confidence, and learn to trust at his own pace.

Rusty may need a little extra patience, but there is a sweet dog underneath those nerves who is ready for a bright future.
