Emery is a beautiful 2-year old female Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found her on State Route 26 in Washington County Ohio (exact location on SR26 unknown). Emery was wearing a collar, but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped.
This little beauty has a black wire-haired coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with brown 'teddy bear' eyes, a long slender muzzle, and short floppy ears.
Emery was understandably frightened being in an unfamiliar place with so many other dogs nearby, but she quickly realized that she was among her new best friends (our HSOV Kennel Techs). These photos were taken on December 9th and, although she was still a bit bewildered by her surroundings, Emery kept coming to the side of of the kennel where the photographer was kneeling with camera in hand as though she wanted attention or to be comforted.
Emery weighs 47 lbs. She had sparse fur on her hind quarters/legs when she entered our shelter (most likely due to an allergy), and her coat has grown back since then.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Emery was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for this little sweetheart.
Emery made her social debut in January 2026 when she attended the Ice Sculpture Festival in Marietta Ohio and showed everyone her playful outgoing personality and that she liked children.
Emery was spayed on February 23, 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine. She is ready to find her dream home with a special someone to love/cherish her forever and ever.
