Meet Dallas!
Dallas may be named after a big Texas city, but this 32-pound sweetheart is the perfect smaller-medium size. He is nearly two years old (currently 1 year and 10 months) and is at a wonderful age — past the tiny puppy stage but still young, playful, and eager to learn. Without a DNA test we cannot confirm his breed, but we suspect he may be some type of terrier mix.
Dallas’s story began when he was found as a stray and brought to the shelter back in January. Since then, he has spent his days in a kennel, watching and waiting for someone to give him the chance he deserves. The shelter he is currently in is severely overcrowded, and without a confirmed adopter, dogs like Dallas face uncertain futures. He is ready for a family to see his potential and give him the life he deserves.
Despite the stressful shelter environment, Dallas continues to shine. The shelter reports that he loves his daily walks with staff and volunteers and truly enjoys playtime in the yard. What he is really dreaming of, though, is a home of his very own — one filled with love, treats, cozy naps, and fun adventures.
He is still working on the basics such as house training, leash manners, and polite greetings, so his future family should be prepared for typical young dog antics and the consistency that comes with raising a young dog. With patience, structure, and continued training, Dallas will blossom into a loyal and well-mannered companion. He is eager to bond and ready to devote himself to his people.
Dallas has had limited exposure to children during his time in the shelter, so slow and supervised introductions would be best. He has done wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys playtime, making him a great canine companion. He has not been tested with cats, so any potential placement with cats would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Overall, Dallas is the perfect mix of easy-going and adventurous. He would love a home with a yard to romp in, but given his manageable size, he could also do well in an apartment as long as he receives daily walks and consistent exercise. He is playful, sweet, and ready to be someone’s very best buddy.
Health:
Dallas is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly preventatives.
Transport Information:
All of our dogs, including Dallas, are currently located in Texas and will be safely transported to their adopters once their adoption is finalized. Transport is included in the adoption fee. Please remember that breed labels are simply educated guesses — we encourage adopters to focus on personality, lifestyle compatibility, and long-term commitment rather than breed alone.
