Meet Astrid!
Astrid is the kind of dog who stops traffic with her beauty and melts hearts with her personality. With her rich chocolate-and-white coat and a stunning little “pirate” patch over her right eye, she is truly striking — but it’s her eyes that absolutely mesmerize. One is crystal blue, the other a warm amber, giving her a look as unique and unforgettable as she is.
Astrid is believed to be around 3 years and 7 months old and currently weighs about 45 pounds. She appears to be fully grown. While we cannot confirm her breed without a DNA test, she looks to be a Pit Bull–type mix. Please don’t let outdated stereotypes stand in her way — bully breeds are known for their loyalty, affection, and deep love for their people, and Astrid embodies all of those wonderful traits.
We don’t know much about her past. She was found as a stray and has been in a shelter environment since January. It’s clear she was once a mama dog, and we can only imagine she gave her puppies everything she had. Despite being found on her own, she carries herself like a dog who may have once known the comfort of a home. She appears to be potty trained, knows some basic obedience, and overall presents herself like a family companion who just needs her second chance.
During a recent cold snap, Astrid was able to spend time in a foster home — and she left quite the impression. Her foster described her as one of the sweetest girls, saying she literally “melts” into you when you pet her. She appeared potty trained, did exceptionally well in her crate, and was wonderful with the children in the home. She was well-mannered, affectionate, and an absolute joy to have around.
Astrid is now back at the shelter, dreaming of a home where she can give all the snuggles she has been saving up and show off those beautiful eyes every day. She would benefit from someone who is willing to continue working with her on basic obedience, but she is very eager to please and learns quickly.
She has done wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys playtime, making her a great canine companion. She has not been tested with cats, so placement with cats would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Overall, Astrid is the perfect blend of easy-going and affectionate with just enough playful spirit. She would love a home with a yard to relax and explore in, but given her manageable size and good house manners, she could also do well in an apartment setting as long as she receives regular walks and consistent exercise. She is loving, loyal, and ready to be someone’s very best friend.
Health:
Astrid is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly preventatives.
Transport Information:
All of our dogs, including Astrid, are currently located in Texas and will be safely transported to their adopters once adoption is finalized. Transport is included in the adoption fee. Breed labels are simply educated guesses — we encourage adopters to focus on personality, lifestyle compatibility, and long-term commitment rather than breed alone.
