Meet Carl!

This charming, well-mannered guy is approximately 10 years old and is part terrier, possibly part warthog, and the rest is a mystery.

Carl is the epitome of low maintenance! He walks well on a leash but doesn't need much exercise, a few blocks will do. He would prefer to lounge out the rest of his life with a homebody just like him. Carl would love to be your one and only, but he gets along well with other dogs, cats, and people. We're not sure how he is around kids but due to his age he would prefer a quieter home. He doesn't know a single basic command, not sit, stay, leave it, wait, etc., but it doesn't really matter because he also doesn't do much and doesn't have any bad habits. He likes to sleep on the bed and under the covers for part of the night. He's not a lap dog but likes to be next to his person.

We don't know anything about his life before the shelter. Carl has some anxiety which is greatly exacerbated when he is overstimulated; being in the shelter was too much for him. He is mostly healthy but has a heart murmur and his teeth are not in the best shape. He eats only wet food and does well with that. A dental procedure may be in his future, but the risks of anesthesia with the heart murmur will need to be discussed with your vet.

If you have a heart for seniors, want a couch potato that offers abundant unconditional love, and are ok with extra expense for wet food and possibly a dental, he will be a great addition to your family.

He has been an absolute joy to foster and as he comes out of his shell and shows more and more of his winning personality.
