Ryder is a super sweet, cuddly 5 month old Terrier mix that weighs 35 lbs. He will be around 65-70 lbs when he is full grown. He is best described as loving, affectionate, easy going and playful. Ryder is quite possibly the sweetest puppy you'll ever meet. He is very affectionate and loves to sit near his humans and lean into them for cuddles. He absolutely loves to meet new humans and other dogs, and is the type of pup that you can take on dog-friendly outings because he's always happy to make new friends. He's very playful with a curious nature. He loves to watch the squirrels running through the trees and chase butterflies that fly around the yard. Each day you can see his confidence bloom as he explores more of the world around him. He’d love an active family that enjoys walks, hikes, backyard play sessions, and exploring the outdoors. He’s equally happy with slow, cozy days filled with movie marathons and afternoon naps. He truly offers the best of both worlds, and is playful when it’s time for fun, yet calm and content when it’s time to relax. If you work from home, Ryder might just be your dream coworker. He’s perfectly content lounging near your desk, happily chewing on a bone or playing with his toys while you attend virtual work meetings. He is a smart, determined pup that learns quickly. He likes to work on puzzle games and will keep at it until he gets the prizes (yummy treats). He can be a little on the sensitive side and when something startles him, he runs back to his foster mom and wants to be comforted. He bounces back quickly though because his curiosity gets the better of him and he wants to go investigate it further. He is the perfect work from home companion because he will happily hang out next to your desk all day and keep himself busy with his toys and chew bones. He's pretty laid back, calm, and enjoys hanging out with his humans as much as possible. If you're looking for a pup that offers offer unwavering loyalty, endless cuddles, and a lifetime of love, Ryder is the pup for you.
Ryder is a medium energy pup that requires a few short energy burning activities per day. He's best described as a perfect mix of active and laid back. Playtime is one of Ryder’s favorite parts of the day. He loves tossing around squeaky toys, playing tug with rope toys, and proudly carrying his favorite chew toy from room to room. When he has doggy friends around, he’s thrilled to romp and wrestle, matching their energy with a playful, bouncy spirit. But what’s especially wonderful about Ryder is that he doesn’t need constant entertainment. If a furry playmate isn’t available, he’s perfectly capable of entertaining himself. He’ll happily settle down with a toy, chew contentedly on a bone, or explore a puzzle game to keep himself busy. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. He is very food motivated and is easily entertained with mental stimulation games, like puzzles and treat dispensing toys, that he can work on to get yummy treats as a prize. He would love to go on walks around neighborhood, exploring nature trails, and long hikes with his humans as he gets older. His adaptable energy level makes him a great fit for families who want a dog that can keep up when it’s time to be active, but also knows how to settle in and relax for lots of cuddle time.
Ryder is dog and kid friendly, but has not been introduced to cats yet. He is currently in a foster home with older dogs that range in size from small to large, and he loves them all. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another playful dog in his forever home. He is still working on learning proper doggy communication skills and respecting boundaries set by the older, lower energy dogs in his foster home. Because he is a goofy, playful puppy that doesn't realize his size, he would do best with larger, more playful dogs versus older, temperamental small dogs. Because of his gentle and friendly demeanor, he would be able to join a family that has a dog-friendly cat in the home. Since he is a silly, playful puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is a puppy and will want to play with them. Ryder would do well with kids of all ages. He loves to play, cuddle, and share his sweet puppy kisses with everyone he meets. He is going through the teething stage, so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around.
Ryder is kennel trained, and is currently working perfecting his leash walking and potty training skills. He sleeps in kennel at night with no fuss, but does need some treats or toys to settle in. When he gets older, he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. He will notify his fosters that he needs to go outside by standing by the back door and will wait patiently until they open the door for him to go outside to do his business. If his foster mom doesn't notice him standing at the door, he will use a potty pad as a last resort, but he is getting better about alerting her when he needs to go. He can walk on a leash, but isn't the most perfect gentleman on one yet. He will need additional practice to perfect his leash walking skills in his forever home. He is very food motivated and responds well with treats, so just bring some of his favorite snacks and he is happy to pay attention and work on being a perfect gentleman when other people and dogs pass by.
Ryder's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse, but does need multiple walks each day for exercise. He would love to go to the occasional Sniff Spot for exercise and play time if he does live in an apartment or townhome without a fenced in yard. He would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other playful dogs and kids for him to cuddle with. With his adaptable, gentle, laid back personality, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. Whether you’re heading out for an adventure or staying in for a cozy night on the couch, Ryder will be right there, ready to match your vibe and be your loyal companion every step of the way.

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The cost to adopt is $830 - $850, which includes $400 adoption fee, a $230 - $250 transport fee, and a $200 refundable neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The $200 refundable neuter deposit will be paid directly to the adopter's vet before the neuter appointment once he is old enough to undergo the procedure. The transport fee for PNW transports is $250. Transport for all other states is $230.
