Cordelia is a sweet, playful 2 month old terrier mix that weighs 7 lbs. She is estimated to be between 45-50 lbs when she is fully grown. This playful, silly girl loves nothing more than her sharing her love with her humans and having a good time. She is fun-loving, outgoing, and hilariously entertaining. She has that perfect balance of laid-back charm and adventurous spirit. She loves to go on fun outings around town with her foster mom, and will happily sit in her doggy stroller at outdoor patios for dinner. Cordelia is truly the life of the party, and her social butterfly personality makes her an ideal match for someone who enjoys bringing their pup along to dog-friendly brunch spots on outdoor patios, play dates, or fun city strolls. She loves to meet new people and dogs, and never passes up a chance to make new friends. She's also a major cuddle bug and loves to shower her humans with affection. When she's ready to cuddle before she falls asleep for a nap, she will place her front paws on your leg and show you her pouty bottom lip as she asks to be picked up and loved on. She is her foster mom's sidekick as she works from home, and you can always find her curled up on a dog bed or entertaining herself with her toys as she works. She is very good about self entertaining and will stay quiet while you attend virtual work meetings. With her perfect mix of playful energy and laid-back charm, Cordelia is ready to be your cuddle buddy, your adventure partner, and your daily source of laughter.
Cordelia is medium energy, so she is pretty mellow with short bursts of puppy energy that are quickly burned with short exercise and play sessions. She loves to play in the backyard with her doggy friends, but she's great about entertaining herself with her toys too. Her favorite games are fetch and tug-o-war. When she wants to get her human's attention to play, she will bring her favorite toy over in her mouth and nudge your leg to let you know she's ready for you to throw it for her. She really enjoys playing mental stimulation games that involve yummy treats. She's a quick learner and is a pro at figuring out how to get her treats out of puzzle games and other mental stimulation toys. On rainy days when she can't spend much time running around to burn her energy, just give her some puzzle games or a long lasting chew. She likes to toss her chews and chase after them, and will keep herself busy playing and chewing on that for a while. As she grows up, she would be a great pup to take on fun adventures exploring nature trails and going on longer hikes. She's the type of pup that would thrive in a family that enjoys the outdoors, but also enjoys some lazy days cuddling on the couch too. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that she is about to start teething.
Cordelia is kid, cat, and dog friendly. She is currently in a foster home with both small and large sized dogs, and she loves them all. Her favorite dog in the home is the senior pittie and the first thing she does when she wakes up in the morning is smother her with kisses before she goes outside to potty. She also enjoys playing with the small chihuahua and has learned to play gentle with her so she doesn't get the small dog wrath. She is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another confident, playful dog in her forever home. She has learned proper doggy communication skills and boundaries from her older doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of her puppy antics. When she is corrected by the other dogs, she will scamper off to find something else to play with instead. Because of her young age and friendly demeanor, she would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. Since she is a silly, playful puppy, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she is a puppy and will want to play with them. Cordelia would do well with kids of all ages. She loves to play, cuddle, and share her sweet puppy kisses with everyone she meets. She met some young kids at an outing with her foster mom and her little nub tail wouldn't stop wagging every time they came over to love on her. She is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with kids of any age. She is going to start teething soon, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around. She really likes to playfully grab ahold of your sock when you're walking around the house and thinks it is a fun game to be scooted across the tile floor. She may trip a smaller toddler just learning how to walk because of her love for chasing socks.
Cordelia is kennel trained, and is currently working on mastering potty training. She has started leash training, but she still thinks the leash is a toy for her to play tug-o-war with. She loves to go on outings in her doggy stroller and also likes to be carried in a doggy pouch though, so while she is still little, she can be taken on fun outings until she masters leash training. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a treat and some of her favorite toys as she settles in. When she gets older, she would love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible. She is doing well with potty training and will use a potty pad if she needs to go and her foster mom doesn't let her out quick enough. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours, so she will need someone who either works from home or that can take her to a dog-friendly office while she's still working on potty training. She is still learning to notify her foster mom that she needs to go out to potty, but she will run to the back door and start pacing when she needs to go outside.
Cordelia's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. She would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as her humans work from home and she gets frequent exercise and potty breaks throughout the day. She is still learning how to go up and down stairs, but because she has little legs, she is still working on figuring out how to come down the stairs. It is preferred that her human works from home or can take her into a dog-friendly office while she is still young. She would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that she can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. With her adaptable, laid back nature, she would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. Her ideal family is one that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and also cuddle up on the couch after. Cordelia is ready to give her whole heart to a family who will love her just as much in return. If you’re looking for a pup who will be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your best little friend, Cordelia is the perfect match for you.
Cordelia is in a foster home in Central Texas. She can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations
This is a courtesy post for LAPP Dog Rescue. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so when you submit an application it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The cost to adopt is $800, which includes $350 adoption fee, a $250 transport fee, and a $200 refundable spay deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The $200 refundable spay deposit will be paid directly to the adopter's vet before the spay appointment once she is old enough to undergo the procedure. The transport fee of $250 is to transport Cordelia from her foster home to her forever home.
