WILLOUGHBY

Terrier, Chihuahua
🇺🇸
Torrington, Connecticut
April 5th
male, small, adult

DESCRIPTION

Name: Willoughby
Breed: Terrier mix….
Gotcha! Even though he looks and acts like a Terrier, he’s actually Chihuahua / Min Pin / Schnauzer (according to DNA test)
Age: ~5 year old adult (but mentally: forever toddler)
Sex: Male
Weight: 22 lbs.
Before OMD: Found as a stray and completed his stray hold ad a local shelter before we welcomed him into rescue.
Energy Level: Medium. He absolutely loves to play, run around outside, and go for walks; but once he gets it out of his system, he is glued to his person and ready for snuggles.
What we love most: He is the perfect mix of fun and sweet! One minute he’s ready for tug-of-war like his life depends on it, the next minute he’s rolling onto his back demanding kisses and belly rubs like the studdly man he is.
What he loves most: His people, plush toys with squeakers, tug-of-war, long walks, chasing squirrels, and sleeping in bed like a prince.
Funny quirk: Willoughby LOVES watching TV. He will absolutely bark at the animals on the screen and let you know when his favorite shows are on.
Annoying but also kind of funny quirk: He gets extremely excited and anxious in the car. We’re talking jumping, rolling, whining, full chaos mode. He will need to be secured for car rides unless you want a tiny tornado in your passenger seat.
A day in the life of Willoughby: Wake up → demand belly rubs → roll around like a maniac → go outside → breakfast → friendly game of tug-of-war → nap like he just finished a full-time job → wait patiently for foster grandma to arrive and spoil him → evening walk or backyard playtime → dinner → TV time (with occasional commentary) → full-night cuddle shift in bed.
Affection Level: High! He is cuddly, kissy, and very much wants to be touching his person whenever possible.
Stranger Danger: None. He loves meeting new people and assumes everyone is there specifically to admire him.
What he knows: Sit, stay, and wait. Also knows how to look extremely cute while waiting for snacks.
Food Motivation Level: Extreme! He loves treats, chicken, eggs, cucumbers, and honestly anything you’re willing to share. He'll never take it from your hand, but he's not picky with how you chose to share otherwise.
House-trained: 100% — total champ.
Crate-trained: Not tested, and we don’t think he would love it. He does great being left alone for a few hours and would much rather free-roam like a gentleman.
Dogs: No thanks. Willoughby has done great with some dogs, but not so great with others and seems to be territorial of his space with other dogs. We think it’s ideal that he be the only dog in the home.
Cats: Unknown.
Kids: Has met a few and done well. We think respectful kids 6 would be just fine.
Special Feature: A completely natural mohawk that makes him look like the lead singer of a very small rock band.
Ideal Home: Someone who will play tug-of-war with him, take him for walks, let him sleep in the bed, keep a steady supply of squeaky toys, and appreciate a small dog with a BIG personality.
Willoughby is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
