Date into Rescue: 01/11/26
Reason for being in rescue: Sasha was found as a stray in eastern NC. Because she was emaciated and filthy, the shelter released her to CPR on a compassion release just 2 days after she was found. She was an emaciated 21 lb standard poodle! She continued her stray hold at CPR through the required period and is now ours. Because Sasha is a stray we cannot promise she is a pure-blooded poodle, or that she will not shed.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Sasha came into us very malnourished (21 lbs) and may still be gaining weight when adopted. She will need to on a consistent diet to continue gaining weight and then a great exercise program to help build muscle tone. She is a diamond in the ruff for sure. She also had a good amount of tartar but our vet took all that off and now she has pearly whites..
Weight: 33.9 lbs as of 3/4/26. She was 21 lbs when found. We think she will stabilize around 35 to 40 lbs.
Height: 20 in the shoulder
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $699

Fence needed? No, but we are sure Sasha would love one with run around and paly in.

What kind of home would be best for me? Sasha is looking for a loving home that can offer both fun and calm — a safe, stable environment where she can continue to grow, gain confidence, and truly blossom into her best self. With patience, kindness, and consistency, Sasha will reward her family with loyalty, affection, and joyful companionship. Sasha walks fairly nicely on a leash but would benefit from continued training and guidance to help build her confidence and skills. She is very food motivated, likely due to having experienced severe neglect and near starvation earlier in her life. Because of this, positive reinforcement training works especially well for her.

What is my personality like? Sasha is a beautiful black Standard Poodle, though we are unsure if she may be a mix. Despite her age, she still has a wonderfully puppy-like spirit — young, spry, playful, and eager to enjoy life. She has been friendly with every dog she has met and tends to have a more submissive personality, making her a lovely companion for other respectful dogs. Sasha is clean in her crate most of the time and continues to improve each day. She willingly goes into her crate when given direction and is learning routines well.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Sasha can be shy when first meeting new people, but she has made great progress and now warms up much more quickly, often seeking out gentle affection and coming in for snuggles once she feels safe.

Other tips and tidbits: Sasha was a stray so her true birthdate is unknown. We believe she is about 3 years old so has been given a birthdate of 10/25/22 by staff at the shelter. Our vets believe this is accurate.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters

Dogs can’t drive — and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them.
