DESCRIPTION
Meet Wilson- a survivor.
Wilson came to the Berkeley County campus as a stray, covered in wounds. Staff believes he possibly came from a background of abuse. His body, his teeth, his soul were broken. Now Wilson is neutered, his wounds are healing, his teeth have been repaired...he just needs to find a home with patience and understand to give him time for his soul to heal. He has gained so much confidence in a short time, but he is still scared of new environments and loud noises, so patience is key. He will be sure to reward you with a joyful, full-body wiggle and rapid tail wags!
Because of Wilson's background, we recommend he goes to a home with no children and no small animals. In addition, Wilson is heartworm positive so that will be part of his recovery journey- the cost of treatment paid for by Charleston Animal Society. Despite his wounds, Wilson still adores the company of other dogs his size (or larger!). His absolute favorite activity is fetch, and he will do anything for a toy or tennis ball. He is also super food motivated and loves a good snack of any kind.
Could you be the healing home Wilson needs? Meet him today by emailing our team in Ravenel, where he is currently located, at TransitionCenter@charlestonanimalsociety.org
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a muscular, agile dog known for its loyalty and affection towards its family. With a friendly and courageous nature, this breed makes an excellent companion and is great with children. Their distinctive physical features include a broad head, strong jaws, and a short coat that comes in various colors. Despite their tough appearance, Staffordshire Bull Terriers thrive on human interaction and require consistent training and socialization to develop into well rounded pets.
