🐶 Meet Nami
Nami is a gentle, observant 3-year-old girl weighing about 16 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, and fostered in Greater Boston.
She was rescued from an overcrowded municipal shelter in South Korea, where she was attacked by other dogs and lost one of her eyes. She later spent time in a home that was not the right fit, but since coming into foster care with Never Alone Animal Rescue, she has been making beautiful progress. In a short time, she has gone from very shut down and shaky to curious, affectionate, and increasingly confident.
🌿 Personality
✨ Quiet, sensitive, and sweet
✨ Gentle and never aggressive
✨ Affectionate in a soft, non-demanding way
✨ Loves praise, gentle pets, cozy blankets, and being near her people
✨ Has the prettiest smile
Nami may not ask for attention right away, but she forms deep bonds with the people she trusts.
🚶 Walks, Confidence & Social Life
🐾 Walks are one of Nami’s biggest sources of confidence
🐾 Walks well on leash and enjoys following a routine
🐾 Good with car rides
🐾 Loves dog parks and being around other dogs
🐾 Good with both small and large dogs
🐾 Curious about strangers and warms up with time
Having one eye does not affect Nami’s daily life or activity level. She gets around well, including on stairs, and enjoys all the normal dog things. The main difference is that she tends to turn or look over her right side more often than other dogs.
🏡 At Home & What Helps Her Succeed
✅ House-trained
✅ Quiet and low-key indoors
✅ May bark briefly when someone enters, then settles once she sees who it is
✅ Sleeps calmly on the bed with her foster parents and other dogs once settled
In new spaces, Nami may stay in a corner at first. She does best with gentle encouragement, patience, and routine rather than being left alone to figure things out.
During her first few days, the keys are:
✨ patience with potty accidents or nervous tummy moments
✨ daily walks and outdoor time in a secure area
✨ a ThunderShirt
✨ calm encouragement and predictable routine
She benefits from gentle nudges. In foster care, she became comfortable being picked up after just 2 to 3 days, and once placed on the bed, she slept soundly with the family. A little broth or dog-safe yogurt can also help her relax and engage.
🍽 Feeding & Care
🥣 Prefers a calm, quiet feeding setup
🥣 Appetite improves with routine and low pressure
🥣 Loves Polkadog cod chips
🥣 Tolerates grooming, paw handling, and tooth brushing
🥣 ThunderShirt, Adaptil, and blankets have all helped her feel secure
🛟 Safety
Because Nami can be nervous in new situations, adopters must follow proper safety protocol on walks and outings, including secure gear with collar-harness backup clip, GPS tracking, and a sturdy leash setup.
🏠 Ideal Home
Nami would thrive with:
💛 A patient, gentle adopter
💛 A calm, structured home
💛 Someone home often, ideally work-from-home
💛 Daily walks and continued confidence-building
💛 Easy potty access such as a fenced yard, dog run, or nearby outdoor area
💛 An adopter who understands that trust takes time
⭐ Why Nami
Nami is incredibly special. She may need a little extra guidance and patience at first, but she is trying every day. Watching her feel safe, open up, and choose her people is deeply rewarding.
If you are looking for a quiet, meaningful bond with a sweet dog who just needs someone to believe in her, Nami may be your girl.
