Cute little 11 year old Linus has lost his owner due to death and is looking for a patient and kind person or family. He is currently living with Shelties but he needs a home with no other dogs. Cats are o.k.
At one point, Linus was very overweight at 44 lbs. but he is now a nice, healthy boy of 23 lbs. He sure loves his food and his new people must not be persuaded by his sweet expression and hopeful eyes to give him anything but his own special low fat diet. He responds to a quiet "no" and will reluctantly lay down....ever hopeful that some piece of food will fall to the floor.
Linus is a very reserved boy but barky with strangers. He wants to ensure that he is safe with strangers before he accepts petting, but once he trusts he will happily present himself for butt skritches and gentle petting all over. He follows his foster mom everywhere and loves to snooze right by her side.
A full dental last week resulted in 10 extractions and he is now much more comfortable with chewing his food. He is on a low fat kibble diet, not only to ensure that his weight doesn't creep back up too high, but also because he has had pancreatitis in the past and should not be eating high fat content food. Linus is on daily Metacam for arthritis in his front elbows (X-rays were done) and also a glucosamine supplement. His hips are very good.
Linus races to *protect* his space when he sees a squirrel daring to cross his yard and is very adamant about keeping guard! When he meets other dogs on a walk he barks and pulls on the leash in excitement....plus being unsure and some fear as well. He has not done a lot of leash walking being with elderly owners previously.
He is a very reliably housetrained boy with no accidents at all in the house. When he wants to go outside he will stand and stare at his person and will respond with a loud bark to "do you want to go out?" and run to the door....happily barking as he anticipates fun outside. Linus is a happy boy and finds everything exciting and will let everyone know that something is happening. He does understand "quiet" and will comply, said in a firm but non-threatening voice....he is very in tune with his person and is happy to please them.

If you have a fully fenced and secured yard and are interested in adopting LINUS or any of our dogs, the first step is to complete an Adoption Application at www.sosr.ca/apply-to-adopt so that we can determine whether you and your family are a good match for one of the dogs. If we have a possible match, you would then have a telephone interview, speak to the foster mom, have a home visit by one of our volunteers and vet reference check. Once you have been approved for adoption you can then meet the dog at his foster home. At that time, if you would like to have him as a new family member, you would complete the adoption paperwork and take him home.
