RESCUE STORY - When I was about two months old, my brother and I were left in a cardboard box overnight outside of the shelter. It was a scary start to life, but our kind rescuers found us in the morning and took us in right away! I was a little underweight back then, but otherwise healthy and ready to grow. My brother has already found his forever home, and now I'm patiently waiting for a family of my very own!
TEMPERAMENT - I'm a sweet and gentle pup, but I can be a little shy when I meet new people or find myself in unfamiliar places. I just need a little time and a kind, patient human to help me feel safe and confident. I don't show signs of reactivity, I'm just a bit timid at first. Once I get to know you, my affectionate side really comes out! I love spending time with the volunteers I trust and will happily roll over for lots of belly rubs, like in this video! I'm not picky about food and I'm happy to share—I don't guard my toys or meals.
ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I have a nice, balanced puppy energy! Volunteers take me out for walks and sometimes to the dog park, which I really enjoy! I like exploring, playing, and getting some exercise, but I also appreciate a calm environment where I can take things at my own pace. Here's a video of me just chilling out! With a little patience and love, I know I'll grow into a confident and loyal companion.
Note: I am still a growing puppy! I will need to be at least 8 months old before I can fly to a new home.
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Yes, I've had positive interactions with kiddos. Here is a video of me getting a treat!
Dogs – Yes, I live and play with dogs of all sizes at the shelter.
Cats – Unknown - I don't have known experience around kitties just yet!
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – Work in progress, I am still learning! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Watch videos of me walking on a leash here and here.
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)
HEALTH NOTES:
I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
