Meet Sarah, a breathtakingly beautiful work of canine art whose soft, soulful presence is as unique as her one-of-a-kind appearance. At about 2 1/2 years old and weighing 55 pounds, this quietly intelligent girl is a fascinating mystery mix — perhaps a blend of Shepherd, Whippet, or Saluki — resulting in a stunning companion who truly stands out.

Sarah’s journey from a remote mountain life to the comfort of our program is a testament to her resilience, and she is now joyfully discovering the safety and love she has always deserved.

Sarah navigates the world with a gentle, curious spirit, often using her nose to carefully study her surroundings and make sense of new things. While she arrived at the shelter quite shy due to her lack of early socialization, she is making heartwarming progress every day, learning that new faces often bring kindness and even the occasional "pup cup," which she enthusiastically approves of!

Because she finds great confidence in her canine friends, Sarah would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help her feel secure and relaxed.

She is already housetrained and gets along wonderfully with other dogs; she even showed a calm, respectful interest during her meeting with a cat, and we know she lived with free roaming cats up on the mountain from which she was rescued.

This observant and loyal girl is looking for a patient, gentle family who will appreciate watching her unfold at her own pace. In return, you’ll gain a sensitive companion who will likely become a devoted "alert dog" for her favorite people.

If you have a quiet home and a heart ready to guide a shy soul through her first big adventures, Sarah is waiting to become your most rewarding and beautiful addition.

Because sensitive Sarah will take longer that some dogs to begin adjusting to a new family and home, her trial adoption period will be extended from 30 days to 60 days.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Sarah is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
