Megara is an 8-year-old sweet and gentle girl looking for a loving forever home.

She is a soft-hearted, easygoing dog who enjoys the simple pleasures in life-leisurely walks, time outdoors, and being around kind people. Megara also does well with other dogs and is happiest in a calm, relaxed environment. After a nice stroll, she loves settling into a soft, cozy place to rest and relax.

Megara arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from a partner shelter in Texas, and she tested positive for Heartworm upon intake. The good news is that this condition is treatable, and the staff believes the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Megara to recover is in a loving home with a supportive family.

If adopted, the clinic team will provide guidance every step of the way. Her treatment typically takes about three months and includes simple at-home care to keep her safe while she recovers. She will also need a follow-up test about six months after treatment begins.

Heartworm treatment is highly successful, and the team is confident Megara will make a full recovery. Heartworm can only be transmitted between animals through mosquitoes and cannot be spread directly to people or other pets.

Megara is ready for her next chapter-one filled with comfort, care, and a loving family of her own.

All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
